Outdoor Oil Filled Potential (Voltage) Transformer is a Voltage Transformers design in which there are two tanks. This is a special kind of voltage transformer and is used generally for higher system voltages upto 132 KV.
The lower tank consist of primary windings, secondary windings & core. The upper tank is used due to the Bushing limitations to withhold Graded Insulation of HV Windings. Other purpose to provide a conservator tank is for oil expansion during high temperatures.
Macroplast Manufactures Top Tank Outdoor Oil Filled Potential Transformers upto 132kv system voltage. The top tank acts as an expansion chamber for the transformer. This kind of design has two tanks. The core and windings are contained in the lower tank. The primary winding is taken through the HT insulator to be connected to the primary terminal arranged on the top tank. We manufacture Outdoor Oil Filled Potential (Voltage) Transformer without top expansion tank upto 33kv system voltage. This design has a single tank. The core and windings are contained in the lower tank. The primary winding is taken through the HT insulator to be connected to the primary terminal arranged at the top of the HT insulator. The secondary windings are connected to secondary terminals placed on the lower tank. The Outdoor Oil Filled Potential Transformer without Top Conservator Tank is generally used for medium system voltages like 11, 33 KV etc. In such lower system voltages, uniform insulation is sufficient to withstand high voltages and is feasible from both Technical & Economical point of view.
